The shape of the journey

  • Dawn walk through Kyoto's Higashiyama lanes
  • Food-led exploration of Tokyo neighbourhoods
  • A measured Nara day with time beyond the main park

A spring journey with room to breathe

This itinerary is designed around the pleasures between the landmarks: the first train of the morning, a bowl served across a small counter, the texture of an old shop curtain after rain. Blossom season is the frame, not the only reason to travel.

Accommodation and meals

We favour well-connected, characterful hotels over oversized resorts. Breakfast is included daily; hosted meals are chosen for place and season. Dietary needs must be discussed before confirmation.

Important information

The displayed price is brochure guidance, not live inventory. Walking, stairs, and public transport form a meaningful part of the trip. Exact hotels and flight arrangements are confirmed in the final written quotation.

Day by day

Day 01 Tokyo, gently

Arrive, settle in, and meet your host for a short neighbourhood orientation followed by an informal welcome supper.

Day 02 Markets to quiet gardens

Begin early at an outer market, cross the city by rail, and slow the afternoon in a landscape garden away from the busiest circuit.

Day 03 A city of neighbourhoods

Choose a design, food, or contemporary-culture walk before an open evening for your own discoveries.

Day 04 Shinkansen to Kyoto

Travel by bullet train, check in near central Kyoto, then trace the Kamo River as lanterns begin to glow.

Day 05 Kyoto before breakfast

Walk Higashiyama at dawn, return for breakfast, and continue later with a craft studio visit and seasonal dinner.

Day 06 Nara beyond the deer

Visit Nara's temple precincts with a local guide and make time for lanes, gardens, and a neighbourhood lunch.

Day 07 Your Kyoto chapter

A flexible day with optional tea, cycling, or railway excursions, supported by our local recommendations.

Day 08 Homeward

Breakfast and a planned transfer for your onward flight, with room to extend the journey if requested.
